I don’t know. I don’t envy Mods; they have a hard job we all love criticizing . I personally think that all we needed was mediation and sleeping on it, or stopping the problem on the Trump post rather than growing it to a fucking shitstorm.

I definitely felt like people in there needed to cool down a bit. A permaban is probably overkill, but if you are breaking the rules, and a mod is warning you to back off and you keep going , getting a ban for some length of time seems appropriate.

I can’t speak for the mods, but several years there were a few serial folks that would do call out posts. So the non excellent discussion was strike one,   calling out posts maybe  were strike 2and 3.

G oing back 4-5 years, before there was a quick way to report posts to mods, people would share to the front page. although this practice became a shitshow as people would sometimes do call out posts. they were much more common with a few individuals the worst offenders. If I’m not mistaken MK was one of those. Then the mods added the rule to stop that behavior. As Hondayota mentioned, this isn’t MKs first time with call out posts and the subsequent banning . So there is a bit of history of him pulling this and henc e the short fuse on the part of the mods.
